Is this possible? - can you become lactose intolerant later in life

I'm 30th I always eat ice cream without gastrointestinal problems - until last month. Suddenly, I had problems with diarrhea, perhaps two or three days per week. I stopped eating ice cream for a few days and I was fine. Two nights ago I had some and nothing happened. Last night I had a clock at 1:30 and I'm sitting on the toilet. I thought it was menstrual cramps, but it is possible that I've become lactose intolerant? This happens so late in life? Please do not tell me that you consult a doctor - it is something:)
